EastLink line marking works nearly completed

Sunday-Thursday nights between 8pm and 4:30am
completion expected by mid June

EastLink was completed and opened to traffic in June 2008. When tolling first started, EastLink carried 135,000 vehicles per day on average. EastLink is now carrying more than 250,000 vehicles per day on average, peaking at more than 300,000 vehicles on Fridays.

The passage of so many vehicles over this time has had an impact on our painted line markings. So we are in the process of refreshing all the line markings on the 40km EastLink road network, including Ringwood Bypass.

Since Sunday 26 February, we have been progressively refreshing the EastLink line markings. Completion of these works is expected by mid June.

These works are being undertaken on Sunday through to Thursday nights, between 8pm and 4:30am each night.

Only the affected lane in the vicinity of the works is closed at any one time, and wherever possible we are using a rolling closure technique to minimise disruption. This means a mobile lane closure safety vehicle (technically known as a "truck mounted attenuator") follows the mobile line marking machine as it travels along the lane in which the markings are being refreshed.

Please observe roadwork signs and temporary speed restrictions, and take extra care when passing these works.

EastLink will remain open during these works.

These works are required to maintain the high safety standard of EastLink.

EastLink. Time Better Spent.
